Wireless microphone hire

About Sound launches high quality wireless microphone hire inventory. A recent surge in demand, predominantly for live performance of contemporary classical repertoire has prompted the acquisition of 8 channels of Sennheiser G3 300 series wireless. Not all wireless is the same and it was proving difficult to specify hire systems at short notice that would do justice to operatic voices with good gain before feedback performance. The Sennheiser G3 300 series is an attractive proposition not least because it will be possible to upgrade it when OFCOM switches the PMSE radio frequencies from channel 69 to channel 38 in 2012. Each body pack is equipped with a choice of lapel mic or DPA 4066 flesh coloured headset. These become virtually transparent to the audience at a reasonable distance yet offer peerless sound quality and are comfortable and secure to wear.

The system has already been used for a production of Steve Reich’s digital video opera Three Tales, Berio Laborintus II at LSO St Luke’s with the Aurora Orchestra and Simon Callow at St John’s Smith Square.

Pricing is structured realistically to make the technology accessible to arts based organizations who might otherwise be forced to sacrifice quality and reliability on the basis of cost. We tend to hire the system out to trusted engineers for £25 per channel per day (about 50% of the commercial rate) based on a 4 day week so as to allow a group to hire for a rehearsal period as well as performance. Prices are subject to VAT and delivery and may change without notice.

If a full PA system is required, we can offer a top quality D&B system consisting of up to 4 x C6 tops and 4 x E18 subs powered by P1200 amps, perfect for reinforcement of acoustic instruments and voices from big band to contemporary opera.
